Cherry blossoms are a significant symbol in Japanese culture, you can easily find them in paintings, film, poetry, and literature.
They represent the colorful life of the samurai, they lived by a strict moral code of respect, honor, and discipline, called bushido. Fallen cherry blossoms or petals symbolized the end of the samurai’s short lives.
Japanese people believed cherry blossoms were common in the mountains where the gods of rice paddies were living, therefore people would travel to the mountains to worship the trees every spring.
